Dell Philippines showcased their new line of business laptops earlier today. Of the lot, the Dell Vostro V13 took much of my attention.

This laptop surely reminded me of the “almost-unreachable” Dell Adamo. This time though, Dell brought down the starting price of the Vostro V13 to a more affordable range at the 35k level.

This ultralight laptop measures 13.3″ across but is just 16.5 to 19.7mm (0.65-inch) thin. You can choose from three different processors – Celeron 743 1.2GHz (ULV), Intel Core 2 Solo SU3500 @ 1.4GHz (ULV) and an Intel Core 2 Duo SU7300 @ 1.3GHz (ULV). Graphics used is the embedded Intel GMA 4500.

Other specs can also be customized — up to 4GB RAM, 500GB HDD with optional external DVD or Bluray drive. The 13.3″ LED display has a resolution of 1366×768 pixels. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 2.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Gigabit LAN. They also managed to pack in a 5-in-1 card reader, eSATA, USB 2.0, ExpressCard.

One drawback that I discovered is that the 6-cell battery is sealed in so you can’t just easily replace it (have to sent it in to be replaced). It’ also lightweight, as in netbook-light, at 3.5lbs.

That Php35,000+ starting price applies to the basic set-up and it can go higher once you add in the upgrades. Too bad this is not a consumer product but a business laptop so you won’t see these being sold in retail stores.

Of course, they also had several much newer models in the Dell Latitude line (E6410/E6510) and Dell Vostro (V3300/V3400/V3500) with some units running the latest Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.
