Last May 9,
Globe Telecom suffered a temporary network outage that affected subscribers in the Visayas and Mindanao region {see
full story here}.
This evening, Globe sent out SMS to its subscribers informing them of this rebate. This text message was sent to a TM number:
Bilang isang mahalagang customer, bibigyan kayo ng TM ng
FREE texts sa matatanggap ninyo sa mga susunod na araw. Ito ang aming
paraan ng pasasalamat sa patuloy ninyong pagtangkilik sa kabila ng May
9 service interruption. Magpapadala ang TM sa inyo ng text no later
than May 17 kapag ang special service na ito ay maaari nang gamitin.
Ito ang aming paraan ng pagpapakita na kayo ay importante sa amin.
Globe also posted in their corporate blog about the incident:
Globe Telecom is giving free call, text or mobile
browsing services to customers affected during the service disruption
last May 9, 2011. Customers can expect to receive an SMS from Globe to
avail of the service no later than May 17, 2011.
Globe Telecom has fully restored mobile and broadband services in the affected areas in the Visayas and Mindanao regions.
Globe earlier announced that a significant portion of its 2011
capital expenditure (CAPEX) of US$ 500 million will be allocated on
investments to expand coverage and improve quality and capacity of its
network infrastructure throughout the country. Globe has likewise
ensured that its network has increased redundancy and resiliency to
better serve its customers.
Globe assures its subscribers that the service disruption was an
isolated case which involved multiple fiber cuts. Initial findings
indicate that one of the causes was weather-related.

No word as to how the postpaid subscribers will be compensated but I
guess a deduction tot he monthly bill should be the most logical move.
This is a great move by Globe despite the disastrous incident and the CSR nightmare that followed it.
