Shooting with the Samsung ST5000 Empty
PostSubject: Shooting with the Samsung ST5000   Shooting with the Samsung ST5000 Icon_minitimeMon Aug 02, 2010 8:39 pm

Samsung revealed an AMOLED and WiFi-capabled point-and-shoot camera
during CES this year (Samsung ST5500). Though I still have not tried
that model, we had a chance to use its little brother, the Samsung ST5000.

The Samsung ST5000 skipped the AMOLED screen and the
WiFi capabilities altogether of the ST5500 so it can be offered at a
much lower price (quick survey around puts the store price at about
Php19,990). At the back is a 3.5″ touchscreen LCD while the lens can do
7x optical zoom with a CCD size of 1/2.3″.

Smart Face Recognition (up to 20 faces)

The ST5000 has a pretty solid and fairly compact body (this unit has a
matte black finish) made of metal and some plastic although feels a bit
heavy for its size.

Took a few shots but so far, I’m not very impressed (the shots are a
bit grainy which is probably due to the low light during that gloomy
afternoon). Will have to take several more to see if it improves a bit
better.

The 720p video recording looks good though and the footages seemed
smooth and clear (as shown in the YouTube clip above). The camera also
uses the smaller microSD card which are a little more expensive than its
SD card counterpart.

Will be taking more sample shots and sharing them here soon though it
would have been nicer if we also get our hands on that ST5500 with
built-in WiFi, Bluetooth and AMOLED display.
